Course information/Description: Making flowers using air dry clay is a most relaxing and rewarding craft. This class will teach you to create elegant and beautiful flowers great for home deco and gifts. The class is designed to teach you the techniques necessary to make your own creations, With step by step instruction, you will master all the necessary techniques including understanding clay properties, mixing colors, understanding flower petals, crafting and shaping petal and stem, and painting your creations. You will leave the three evening class with your own creation and the ability to create varied and beautiful flowers.
The class requires no previous experience in arts and is suited for any level and age.

COURSE OUTLINE

First class:
• Learning clay properties and mixing colors
• discussion on different in color mixing using water base, oil and/or acrylic paints.
• Discussion in regard of clay’s curing times and working on the clay at different drying stage.
• Study and understand flower petals
• Going through with petal cutters and petals vein stamp

Second class:
• Shaping flower petal and stem
• Working to add details on the petal for realistic appearance
• Assembly flower petals• Discussion on oil paint touch up versus acrylic paint.

Third class:
• How to assemble petals and stems for sturdiness and durability
• Crafting leaves and roots.

Fourth class:
• Assembly flowers and stem with leaves and roots to become a plant.
• Class review and other flowers demo
