Dear Amazing Members and volunteers,
It is with a mix of gratitude and sadness that the Board of Directors announces the departure of Ellen Sturgis as Executive Director of Amazing Things Arts Center, effective July 20th. Since 2015, Ellen has played a critical role in the development and success of our organization. While we will miss Ellen’s inspiring leadership, we wish her the very best as she returns to her work with improving executive and financial systems in nonprofits.
We sincerely thank Ellen for her 3 ½ years of dedicated service which involved many significant accomplishments. Just some include:
- Broadening the variety of music genres for wider audience appeal
- Increasing fundraising through donor challenges and successful grant writing
- Expanding the Gallery program
- Strengthening collaboration with community, schools and arts/culture organizations
- Overseeing renovations and maintenance of the Amazing Things Firehouse
- Conceiving and working toward an outdoor performance space in downtown Framingham
In the coming weeks we will be conducting a search to find a new Executive Director. During this transition period, it is our priority to find the best individual to lead Amazing Things, while maintaining a stable and effective organization. We will share the job posting soon and ask for your help in identifying potential candidates to help Amazing Things continue along a successful trajectory.
We are grateful for the dedication, passion, motivation and leadership Ellen has given Amazing Things during her 3 ½ years. The Board, staff, volunteers and members alike will miss her.
In lieu of our regular spring fundraising appeal, we ask you to consider a tax-deductible gift in honor of the outstanding work Ellen Sturgis has done for Amazing Things. In Ellen’s own words, “I value Amazing Things and hope you will continue to support it as enthusiastically as you have during my tenure here.” You may make a donation here or mail a check payable to Amazing Things to “Thank you Ellen” at 160 Hollis St, Framingham, MA 01702.
We look forward to following Ellen’s continued success in her future pursuits and we’re excited for the next chapter of Amazing Things Arts Center as we continue our mission to build community through the arts.
We are so grateful to you for your support now and as we move forward. If you have any questions or concerns during this transition process, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at ATACboard@gmail.com .
