“People think that stories are shaped by people. In fact, it’s the other way around.” — Terry Pratchett

After a successful maiden voyage this spring, we are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with Fugitive Stories to bring storytelling to Amazing Things every month starting in October!

Fugitive Stories  is an event that brings new and experienced storytellers together to challenge and delight us with this profoundly personal, accessible craft. And YOU can be part of the evening!  We bring Moth and Massmouth Slam winners from Greater Boston who prepare a five- to six-minute story on a theme.  And we invite community members each night to tell THEIR stories…YOUR stories!

Sign up online to request to be a scheduled teller (use this link)  OR  Come that night, put your name in a hat and you may be picked!

Tonight’s theme: Breathless.  This night is a shout out to all runners, athletes and gym rats because you know how it feels to be “breathless.” The stories tonight might be about workout horrors or a “breathless” finish at The Boston Marathon! We don’t know what tales will be told but we hope that our storytellers leave you “breathless.

Featured Tellers: Brendyn Schneider:  Massmouth story slam winner and 2x “Big Mouth Off” Championship Finalist who has been featured at WGBH and stages around New England; George from the Bronx: Massmouth story slam winner and “Big Mouth Off” Championship Finalist; Bart Thompson: Moth StorySLAM winner, Massmouth story slam winner and producer of “Now Hear This” storytelling in Dorchester, MA.

Community Tellers this month are Libby Franck of Framingham and Michael Sanders of the Sudbury Valley Trustees.
