Revelle’s solo exhibition of dollhouse interiors, fractured furniture, and the coexistence of subdued organic matter investigates themes of constraint. Overlaid with modest portraits: figures disappear into wallpapered backgrounds or behind a web of embroidery that hide their identity while a simultaneous sense of isolation and exclusion emerges. Through the delicate and ethereal domestic art of embroidery and the destructive process of assemblage, these pieces lend space to inadvertent acts of subjugation that evokes reflection of the home, identity and the past.

Chelsea Revelle is a Boston-based fine artist exploring assemblage, mixed media, printmaking, and fiber art. Her work examines themes of the domestic female, home, childhood play, and identity. Chelsea received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2007 and later achieved her Masters in Organizational Leadership from Wheelock College in 2014. Freelance clients have included MIT Cell Journal, Half Price Books, and CUNY Graduate Center, among others. The fine art that Chelsea creates has been featured in museums and galleries such as Fuller Craft Museum, Bromfield Gallery, Lincoln Arts Project, Nichols House Museum and the Washington Street Art Center. Magazines such as Create! and Fresh Paint have featured her work and several of her assemblage pieces were released in a special edition book called “Always Home” published by Fresh Paint. Life in the city inspired Chelsea to invest her time in community arts-based education and works to advance access and opportunities for emerging and under-represented artists. Chelsea is currently the Manager of Studio Art Classes at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and a core member of Fountain Street Fine Art in Boston’s South End.
In her spare time you can find Chelsea assembling objects in her Jamaica Plain studio, riding her bike, thrifting for treasures and spoiling her pet ferret Charlie.

The Morton Street Gallery is our satellite gallery in Exhibit ‘A’ Brewery located at 81 Morton Street, Framingham, MA 01702.
