The Amazing Starbucks Gallery
Getting outside is good for soul. I bring the inside out and outside in through my art work. My paintings are abstract forms, textures and colours comprising of recognizable figure or a group of figures on a closer observation. Sometimes they are only feeling, emotion or an expression. I like to translate the positive energy of nature in my work. My recent works are focused on feelings of different seasons. I am from India, and experiencing a beautiful fall, summer, and snowy winters here in Worcester has been an inspiring subjects for me. I let myself free in front of canvas and slowly I and my canvas engross in conversation, we lose track of time and space and go to a different world where I am free and composed. I feel like meditating while painting. I have had a good fortune to live in beautiful places like New England, Germany and India, glimpse of which lies in my works.
I mostly work in acrylics. I consider myself a free soul; therefore, I like to work in different mediums. I give shape to my imagination through clay, wood, metal and fabric. I am truly dedicated to art since I was 7. My passion for art and design is a reflection of my journey and development. I started painting in my childhood and continued art and crafts as hobby and later in profession. My formal training started with graduate studies in Fine Arts. I broadened my skills by pursuing higher education in textile design with specialization in printing. I wanted to enhance my knowledge and professional skills after working in Textile industry for 2 years. Therefore, I attended the internationally reputed National Institute of Design and obtained Masters in Design.
Influence- I am highly influenced by the Vincent Van Gogh and his lifetime dedication to art. At the same time, I am also inspired by Andy Warhol. He was never restricted to one style and medium. Creativity is the vital essence of my work which needs to be unlimited and unconditional by its core. This gives me freedom to design logos, textiles, sculptures), product designs and many more.
I truly believe in Andy Warhol words- ‘How can you say one style is better than another? You ought to be able to be an abstract expressionist next week, or a Pop artist, or a realist, without feeling you’ve given up something. I think that would be so great, to be able to change styles and i think that’s what’s going to happen, that’s going to be the whole new scene.’
I have worked in a textile and toy design industry before starting as full time artist and freelance designer. It’s been a year since I have shifted to Worcester. I have created a brand, named- I Felt Design Studio. It’s been a great journey. I have actively connecting to people and exhibiting my work at several places and received appreciations from people around. I desire to flourish and expand my horizons as an artist. ‘I Felt Design Studio‘ has been registered in the year 2016
