We are very excited to be hosting one of two days for the Massachusetts semi-finals of this national competition. We are grateful to the folks at Huntington Theatre Company for bringing this competition to Framingham/Metrowest.
Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest that celebrates the power of the spoken word and a mastery of public speaking skills while cultivating self-confidence and an appreciation of students’ literary heritage as they take poetry from the page to the stage. Poetry Out Loud has inspired hundreds of thousands of high school students to discover and appreciate both classic and contemporary poetry. Students from around Massachusetts will be competing for a spot at the National finals to be held April 23-25 in Washington DC.
This event is free and open to the public; come for the whole day or just an hour, but be sure to attend to witness some of our finest and most talented young people perform.
Created and sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and The Poetry Foundation.
