Kim Simmonds is a living legend who lives up to the legend. The founder, leader and primary songwriter for Savoy Brown for over 40 years, Simmonds is on a creative tear, up at dawn to push his guitar playing and songwriting, or passionately putting paint on canvas.
Most people think of Kim Simmonds only as one of the architects of the British Blues explosion beginning in the mid-60’s. Though he’d never admit it, Kim is a self-made renaissance man. He has always been drawn to studying and learning about a wide variety of subjects, but most emphatically in the arts. Simmonds had to carve his own path.
Simmonds has excelled as both a solo artist and a member of Savoy Brown: In 2015, billed as Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown, their album, The Devil to Pay, reached number four on the US Billboard Top Blues Albums chart. Doing solo concerts is a great source of inspiration and a musical journey for Simmonds after his years with Savoy Brown. His solo release, Out Of The Blue has garnered critical acclaim and turned fans heads as to the diversity of music Simmonds can write and perform when stepping out from his band.
“It really is quite a joy to play solo. It is also quite a challenge. I keep changing things up which is very freeing.” Come hear the solo show of a man inducted into both the New York and Canadian Blues Halls of Fame.
